At the age of 22, I was diagnosed with a long-term illness which resulted in my being bed-bound for many years. I was too ill to engage with the world in any way, and found walking two steps a day hard work.
Being so removed from the world for years on end, resulted in a big dent in confidence.
As much as I wanted to be part of the world again, it was very daunting.
